Information Line

The school is situated at the side of the A96, Forres to Elgin road, at the west end of the village. The building was originally built as a Junior Secondary School, but is now used as a Primary School.

The building itself is of traditional design and fairly typical of other local rural schools. Today, the children describe the school as being in two main blocks - the teaching block and the hall block.

The teaching block has, in recent years, seen some modernisation. The upper part of the block houses two open plan carpeted teaching areas as well as a general purpose area, a well stocked non-fiction library, and a growing fiction library.

Down stairs, there are another two carpeted classrooms and a small kitchen area. There are the usual facilities in this block of the school - toilets, staff room, secretary's office and pegs for coats.

The modernisation has created very spacious, comfortable areas for learning and we try to make sure that we look after it well and provide displays of interest to stimulate the best of learning.

The hall block houses a large hall with a variety of PE equipment, which is used as a dining area at lunchtime. There is a also a spacious kitchen area, where meals are served. There is another small hall area and various large storerooms. This part of the school is used in the evenings, by various community groups including the Youth Club for primary children (P3 to P7), and we welcome this arrangement.

We are fortunate with the space that we have and we try to treat it with great respect to help our cleaner to keep it clean and bright. This is a very happy place, where everyone is encouraged to be caring, responsible and sensible in all their actions, so that everyone may feel secure.

The staff are very proud of their pupils and the way in which they go about their daily tasks.
